Position Overview
Reports directly to the AVP of Compliance and Security, this role is pivotal in ensuring that all employees, departments, and the organization adhere to pertinent regulations and standards, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and consumer protection laws.

In this capacity, you will provide strategic direction in compliance oversight and risk management initiatives to align with the strategic, operational, reporting, and compliance goals of Family Security Credit Union. You will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure they remain within acceptable limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute job functions in alignment with the established guidelines and policies of the credit union.
  • Oversee daily compliance-related inquiries, addressing requests from various business units concerning Business accounts, Power of Attorneys, Deceased accounts, and more.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, trends, and technological advancements that may impact the credit union.
  • Facilitate the credit union's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, TILA, RESPA, HMDA, and USA PATRIOT Act. Offer insights and guidance on regulatory matters to management and staff.
  • Manage the processing and tracking of garnishments and subpoenas, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
  • Identify accounts eligible for escheatment based on state-specific regulations to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive compliance program that guarantees adherence to all applicable federal and state laws.
  • Conduct reviews of selected compliance processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Help establish and maintain compliance protocols.
  • Evaluate the credit union's programs, policies, and procedures, monitoring them for compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and observant.
  • Intermediate proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a compliance role within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and ability to work independently.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting courtesy, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and laws applicable to compliance in the financial sector.

Expectations

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union matters.
  • Ensure compliance of credit union policies and procedures with applicable laws.
  • Respond to all communications in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Assist members professionally within established timeframes.
  • Support credit union staff with compliance and security inquiries, seeking guidance from senior management as necessary.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and their implications for credit union policies.
  • Minimize fraud-related losses through employee training and preventive measures.
  • Act as a backup for the Compliance and Security Department in the absence of the AVP.
