Position Overview
A Room Attendant is tasked with executing all cleaning responsibilities to maintain designated guest rooms and communal areas as instructed by the Executive Housekeeper or the Housekeeping Supervisor.

They are expected to foster and enhance exceptional service skills while interacting with clients, guests, and colleagues.

Position Type and Work Schedule
This role may be offered as either full-time or part-time. All full-time roles are eligible for benefits.
This position requires flexibility to work various days of the week, including weekends and holidays, depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive a list of rooms at the beginning of the shift to identify areas requiring cleaning.
  • Complete all pre-cleaning tasks, including preparing guest supplies, cleaning materials, and linens for the housekeeping cart.
  • Utilize both hands effectively to perform tasks such as changing bed linens and scrubbing kitchenware.
  • Reach overhead to dust and clean high surfaces, as well as to store items in cabinets.
  • Move lightweight furniture, such as chairs and tables, to clean underneath.
  • Safely handle all cleaning agents.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment and understanding chemical warning labels.
  • Prepare the housekeeping cart for the following day’s use.
  • Remove all waste and soiled linens from guest accommodations.
  • Maintain cleanliness in hallways, public areas, and storage closets.
  • Report any missing items from rooms to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Operate two-way radios, telephones, and other housekeeping equipment.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of housekeeping tools and report any required repairs.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, adhering to dress code requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor at all times.
  • Exhibit attentiveness, courtesy, and efficiency in interactions with guests, management, and fellow employees.
  • Comply with brand standards and regulations to support safe and effective hotel operations.
  • Foster good communication and teamwork with colleagues and other departments.
  • Demonstrate a helpful attitude towards guest requests.
  • Coordinate with other hotel staff to fulfill special guest requests.
  • Participate in all-employee meetings and events as required by management.
  • Familiarize oneself with all policies, hotel regulations, and terminology.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment
This position is situated within a hotel, primarily working in guest rooms, hotel facilities, and public spaces.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull approximately 100 pounds.
  • Must be capable of bending, stooping, and working on knees to perform tasks such as scrubbing toilets, cleaning tubs, and organizing items.

No travel is anticipated for this position.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a hotel housekeeper.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hotel, housekeeping, and laundry operations is essential.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and adaptability.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • A friendly and cooperative demeanor, with patience in dealing with customers and staff.
  • Must communicate clearly and professionally in English with coworkers, management, and guests, both verbally and in writing.
