Position Summary

We are looking for a dedicated individual to become part of our expanding maintenance team in Michigan. The Facilities Maintenance Engineer will collaborate with our Building Engineering team to provide essential support and coverage as required. This role involves training with our full-time Building Engineer periodically to remain updated on the properties and stepping in during absences or emergencies. The primary duty of this position is to protect the interests of property owners and ensure tenant safety by maintaining the physical condition of the facilities and equipment in accordance with company standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trades and a flexible schedule, making this role suitable for someone seeking additional hours without a fixed timetable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly accompany full-time Engineers on property tours to familiarize with local assets, tenants, and management teams.
  • Provide backup coverage during emergencies, employee vacations, or other leaves.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of building systems and operations.
  • Handle minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and service requests for building equipment and tenant areas.
  • Supervise the property's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems; report any deficiencies to the Operations team and Property Manager.
  • Address tenant requests related to safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental concerns through direct contact and work order systems.
  • Proactively manage ongoing tasks for the property management team.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs for assigned properties.
  • Assist in developing and following standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
  • Ensure effective communication with Operations Support staff and Property Managers.
  • Act as the primary contact for vendors at assigned properties, overseeing their activities and documenting work performed.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks such as waste removal and inspections of exterior lock boxes.
  • Enforce safety protocols and comply with company, OSHA, and client-specific safety standards.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Flexible schedule; the Facilities Maintenance Engineer will not have a fixed hour schedule but will provide coverage as needed.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial building operations engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make independent decisions.
  • Proficient in using handheld devices (smartphones) and electronic work order systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to quality work.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
