About the Position

We are seeking a Therapeutic Services Coordinator to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating therapeutic services for patients with mental health needs.

The role of a Therapeutic Services Coordinator involves working closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans. This may include conducting individual and group therapy sessions, assessing patient needs, and providing education and support to help patients manage their conditions.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Coordinate therapeutic services for patients with mental health needs

  • Work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions

  • Maintain accurate records and reports

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Orients patients to treatment setting and participates in team treatment

  • Takes a primary role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment

  • Conducts a variety of patient treatment activities such as individual and group

  • Maintains Up-to-Date Knowledge

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology or an equivalent field

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a position focused on serving those with mental illness in an inpatient hospital setting

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Special Notes

Please note that the successful candidate must frequently move about the hallways, patient rooms, and multiple floors to service patients. The successful candidate will also aid with the transport of patients. The successful candidate is responsible for responding to alarms/codes, detecting and communicating situations that may cause harm to the patient, or others, responding to and communicating requests for assistance.
