Horticulture Education Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
The College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS) at the University of Minnesota offers a Master of Professional Studies in Horticulture designed for professionals aiming to enhance or initiate their careers in the Horticulture sector.
This adjunct faculty role reports directly to the Associate Dean for Graduate Education.Individuals possessing a doctorate will be appointed as Lecturers, while those without will be designated as Teaching Specialists.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver instruction for graduate-level courses in Horticulture.
Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Studies for the HORT program and CCAPS staff to ensure effective alignment with the curriculum.
Employ industry knowledge and stay updated with research developments, workforce dynamics, professional ethics, and policies to enrich course content.
Incorporate innovative technologies to improve curriculum delivery and accessibility for adult learners.Apply effective teaching strategies tailored for a diverse adult student population.
Availability to teach during scheduled class times, including evenings and weekends, and respond to student inquiries within 48 hours is essential.
Demonstrated ability to engage successfully with diverse groups is required.QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience teaching at the graduate level
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree
- At least 3 semesters of teaching experience in higher education with a record of positive student evaluations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations are essential.
