Work Schedule:
8 hours/day, 194 duty days
Pay and Benefits: Compensation and benefits are aligned with the educator labor agreement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid teaching license in a special education area.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience instructing school-age learners
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and experience with due process protocols
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Training and experience in behavior management and crisis intervention
Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to due process guidelines using district-recommended methods and tools to assess and identify the special education needs of students, participate in team decisions regarding eligibility, and facilitate evaluation plans and reports.
  • Act as a case manager for students by: developing and maintaining Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); facilitating IEP meetings; providing parents and/or guardians with Rights and Procedural Safeguards information and notifications of team meetings in a timely manner; and developing and sharing progress reports with parents.
  • Possess working knowledge of and comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain and promote confidentiality in accordance with data privacy laws.
  • Deliver direct instruction to students receiving special education and assist them in achieving their IEP objectives.
  • Collaborate with general education instructors to plan and implement curriculum and assessments.
  • Provide performance feedback to, direct the work of, and support paraprofessionals in the execution of students' IEP goals.
  • Maintain necessary data to monitor and evaluate student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's development.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement proactive and positive behavioral interventions based on Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) results.
  • Possess knowledge and ability to utilize techniques to ensure a safe environment.
  • Engage in relevant professional development opportunities, stay informed about current best practices in the field, and remain current with state regulations governing special education.
  • Collaborate with related service providers.
  • Possess knowledge of technology strategies and tools available to students and, when necessary, provide strategy information to general education teachers.
  • Work with external agencies providing services for students and families, especially when interagency collaboration is required or requested.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
  • Inquire and bill third parties when parents consent to allow the district to bill their insurance or medical assistance when necessary.
  • Utilize conflict management strategies and resources for support when conflicts arise between staff and/or parents.
  • Attend cluster meetings related to special education.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
