The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Legal & Compliance division, you will have the chance to engage with multiple departments and projects at Fisher Investments, providing advice on a diverse range of legal matters. Your responsibilities will include supporting the institutional business, overseeing the global ESG initiatives, managing the outsourcing program, and facilitating the firm's entry into new markets and services. Whether negotiating contracts with major clients and service providers or collaborating with management to adapt policies in light of new regulations, you will be instrumental in driving success in some of Fisher's most essential areas.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Engage in senior-level professional activities, enhancing your skills and assuming greater responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Provide support to the institutional business, which encompasses: Negotiating investment management agreements, offering legal counsel to the institutional funds team, advising management in the institutional sector, reviewing requests for proposals, evaluating due diligence submissions, and assisting the institutional business in navigating evolving regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Act as the primary legal advisor for the global ESG program, including offering insights on new and changing ESG regulations in multiple regions.
  • Deliver legal counsel on emerging regulations across different jurisdictions as required.
  • Provide legal support for the outsourcing program, which involves: Overseeing the review, negotiation, and approval of service provider agreements, data processing contracts, and related amendments (including reviewing, negotiating, and approving a portion of these contracts), and advising the outsourcing program.
  • Support the firm's growth initiatives by aiding in the establishment of new subsidiaries, securing licenses for expanded services in existing markets, and negotiating real estate agreements.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel.
  • Educate paralegals, fellow attorneys, and business colleagues on new and evolving regulations.

Your Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, with bar admission.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm, or at least 3 years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm combined with 2+ years of in-house corporate experience.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide legal advice on new and evolving regulations to large corporate entities.
