Job Summary

The Counseling Center Assistant Director and Training Director is a 12-month full-time position that plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of our mission and vision, as well as the day-to-day management of the Counseling Center. This position is responsible for overseeing the APPIC Pre-Doctoral internship and Syracuse University graduate student training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision to trainees and develop training opportunities for graduate student trainees.
  • Collaborate with corresponding academic departments and Health and Wellness partners to ensure seamless integration of training programs.
  • Recruit and select trainees for the APPIC Pre-Doctoral internship and Syracuse University graduate student training programs.
  • Develop and lead seminars to support trainee development.
  • Supervise trainees and provide guidance on clinical and administrative matters.
  • Oversight of the training committee and supervision of supervision, including the Behavioral Health intern-training program.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the Counseling Center, including provision of clinical and administrative supervision to Counseling Center staff therapists and the Assistant Training Director.
  • Participate on relevant university and departmental committees and/or teams that promote mental health.
  • Provide mental health services, including initial evaluations, individual therapy, and group therapy.
  • Participate in the Counseling Center's on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology required.
  • Licensed or license eligible within the state of NY.
  • Five plus years of post-degree experience.

Job-Specific Qualifications

  • Experience providing clinical services to culturally diverse client populations required.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in developing training opportunities for graduate student trainees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent time management skills.
