Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Culinary Line Specialist plays a crucial role in the kitchen operations at Michael's Genuine Food & Drink. Reporting to the General Manager and the Executive Chef, this position is essential for maintaining high standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage food production lines to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Adhere to specification guidelines, documenting and reporting any inconsistencies.
  • Inspect materials and products to confirm compliance with packing specifications.
  • Ensure all cooking stations are fully prepared by the designated time.
  • Maintain organization in storage areas and ensure cleanliness at the end of each shift.
  • Verify the accuracy and timeliness of the afternoon menu and family meal preparations.
  • Support fellow kitchen staff as needed, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Contribute to the creation of daily specials and unique menu items.
  • Document and rotate food products according to established protocols.
  • Engage in cooking, preparation, and assembly tasks as required.
  • Prepare a diverse range of food items, including meats, seafood, and vegetables, utilizing various cooking equipment.
  • Assume full responsibility for the quality of dishes served.
  • Consistently follow portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies.
  • Maintain adequate food supplies at line stations to ensure smooth service.
  • Portion food items accurately prior to cooking, following recipe guidelines.
  • Keep workstations clean and sanitary, including all kitchen equipment.
  • Present dishes attractively, adhering to proper plating techniques.
  • Handle and store food products correctly, ensuring proper rotation.
  • Assist with food preparation during less busy periods as necessary.
  • Follow closing procedures diligently and assist others in kitchen closure.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, offering constructive feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chef de Cuisine or Kitchen Manager.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years in kitchen preparation and cooking is required.

Language Proficiency: Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Reasoning Skills: Capable of applying common sense to execute instructions and solve problems.
