Job Overview

Position Title: Field Service Technician

SUMMARY:
This role is primarily accountable for executing and finalizing all designated installation tasks while adhering to the specifications outlined in the contract documents, organizational standards, and project timelines. Additionally, this position is tasked with managing and completing all assigned service operations as specified by Service Work Authorizations through the following responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel is required for 100% of the role.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in the field to guarantee optimal performance and quality.
  • Work independently following established guidelines to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Prioritize tasks and make decisions within set parameters.

Financial Accountability:

  • Complete installation projects within the estimated budget.
  • Track all materials used, whether from a job lot or service inventory.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors as necessary.

Professional Conduct:

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Follow dress code requirements.
  • Ensure all written and verbal communications are conducted professionally.
  • Foster and maintain a professional relationship with clients.
  • Adhere to schedules and deadlines while keeping commitments.

Documentation:

  • Submit all required documentation promptly.
  • Provide timely and accurate time sheets and expense reports.
  • Ensure information is sufficient for cost control and billing purposes.
  • Timely submission of completed Service Work Authorizations.
  • Submit completed installation project reports without delay.

Problem Resolution:

  • Identify and rectify issues related to equipment quality and/or software.
  • Address and resolve concerns regarding customer and peer perceptions.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this role, an individual must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Electrical work
    • Plumbing
    • Pipe fitting related to gas plumbing

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate before groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Proficient in applying basic algebra and geometry concepts.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient in database software, internet applications, inventory management software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in plumbing and electrical work
  • Background in property maintenance/service
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical skills
  • Familiarity with power and hand tools
  • Capability to troubleshoot equipment to determine necessary repairs or replacements
