About the Role

The Senior Counsel for No7 Beauty Company will be responsible for providing strategic and commercially focused legal advice and recommendations to executives and management within various departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Purchasing.

Main areas of activity:

  1. Contract Management: Draft, review, and assist clients in negotiating commercial contracts, tailoring them to the needs of the business and mitigating possible legal risks.
  2. Marketing and Advertising Compliance: Provide analysis and advice to business teams on compliance with advertising, consumer protection, self-regulatory, and internal company guidelines, policies, and processes.
  3. Regulatory Affairs: Provide counsel on regulatory and product safety questions, including legal analysis and advice on employment, e-commerce, and cross-border data privacy and data security issues.
  4. Risk Management: Manage legal risk across the full breadth of the business, supporting and facilitating the continued commercial success of the business.
  5. Efficiency and Standards: Develop standard contracts, templates, forms, and general terms and conditions to streamline, standardize, and simplify systems, procedures, and documents.
  6. Litigation: Directly and diligently follow and manage any claims and legal disputes, supporting the business in disputes with suppliers, customers, and authorities.
  7. Outside Counsel Management: Effectively select and manage external counsels/contracted lawyers, liaising between external counsels and internal business teams.
  8. Legal Budget Management: Monitor and plan department budgets, track spending, identify savings opportunities, and negotiate fixed fees and alternate fee arrangements with outside counsel.
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled legal professional with:

  1. A J.D. from a reputable US-accredited law school.
  2. Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  3. 8-10 years' post-qualification experience in applicable legal roles, including working in-house for a multinational corporation.
  4. At least five (5) years of experience providing legal advice and counsel to senior business leaders and their teams.
  5. In-depth knowledge of contract law, distribution law, and marketing/advertising rules and regulations.
  6. Experience working in multi-disciplinary, multi-jurisdictional teams and project-managing them.
