As a Corporate Counsel at Hiscox, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's growth and success. Reporting directly to the VP, Head of Corporate Legal, you will provide day-to-day legal support to the US business unit, working in partnership with key operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts, including non-disclosure, vendor/supplier, software, consulting, broker, agency, and partnership agreements.
  • Support marketing initiatives by advising on compliance with applicable commercial advertising laws and insurance regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance colleagues to respond to regulatory inquiries and consumer complaints.
  • Conduct legal research and monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business, providing timely legal counsel and updates to various business areas.
  • Maintain close working relationships with internal clients, working strategically and in collaboration with various business areas to resolve legal issues, provide solution-oriented guidance, and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, human resources, and marketing, demonstrating ability to provide timely and solution-oriented legal advice.
  • Develop necessary policies, standards, procedures, and training. Effectively manage corporate litigation and outside counsel.
  • Serve on project teams representing the Corporate Legal team.
Qualifications:
  • Member of the bar of Georgia or another state with 3-5 years of commercial contracting and/or insurance regulatory experience gained in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Strong understanding of contract principles, insurance law, and regulatory requirements applicable to the industry.
  • Superior drafting, negotiation, and communication skills with ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with internal clients.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Superior business judgment, time management skills, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Expertise in employment law is preferred.
Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000-$180,000, representing a nationwide market range. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
