POSITION OVERVIEW

The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to become part of our Food and Beverage team as a Barista. This role is essential in ensuring that guests receive exceptional service in a friendly and professional manner, leading to complete guest satisfaction. The Barista will enhance coffee enjoyment by educating patrons, selling coffee-related products, and preparing a diverse range of coffee beverages, alongside delicious pastries and cookies. Responsibilities also include answering customer inquiries, maintaining retail areas, and performing cashier duties. It is vital to uphold the appearance of the Barista station while providing prompt and courteous service in alignment with Grand Sierra Resort standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greet customers by identifying their coffee preferences and needs.
  • Inform customers by explaining the coffee menu and answering any inquiries.
  • Promote coffee sales by detailing the differences in coffee beans and brewing equipment; demonstrate equipment functionality.
  • Prepare and serve coffee beverages by adhering to established recipes and preparation methods for drinks such as espresso, latte, and cappuccino.
  • Manage inventory by restocking coffee supplies and maintaining the coffee bar with pastries and cookies.
  • Ensure equipment functionality by following operating procedures, troubleshooting issues, and performing maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by adhering to organizational standards and health regulations.
  • Enhance service quality by evaluating and improving processes; maintain an appealing store and coffee bar environment.
  • Contribute to the coffee shop's reputation by taking ownership of new tasks and seeking opportunities to enhance job performance.
  • Operate the Point of Sale system for a portion of the shift.
  • Conduct regular cleaning tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Assist in the comprehensive cleaning of the store as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience as a Barista is preferred.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to interact with customers and colleagues in a respectful and tactful manner.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow various instructions in different formats.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Commitment to meeting and exceeding the expectations of both internal and external clients.
  • Trustworthy and respectful towards others.
  • Consistently demonstrates courteous and professional communication.
  • Collaborative spirit to achieve common goals.
  • Reliable attendance to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must maintain physical stamina and a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the establishment; must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Regular exposure to a busy environment with a high noise level.
  • Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting, with occasional exposure to colder temperatures in storage areas.
