We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at Loyola University Health System. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with direct patient care procedures, including vital sign monitoring, wound care, and medication administration.
- Support the unit manager, professional staff, and physicians in providing patient care focused on the needs of the patient.
- Meet the comfort and hygiene needs of patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, including setting up and priming IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, and simple tracheostomy suctioning and care.
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and obtain wound and throat cultures as needed.
- Assist with equipment supply and set up, including ambulating patients with assistive devices.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure quality care and meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information to ensure patient rights.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience required; preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience.
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) also required.
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program.
