Job Overview:


This role is accountable for the strategic planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities, enhancing workforce efficiency and service quality by proactively addressing potential delays and challenges through effective coordination of resources, equipment downtime, and personnel.


Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to established safety protocols and strive for a culture of ZERO Accidents.

Ensure that team members are equipped with the necessary tools and training to execute tasks safely.

Identify near misses and implement suitable corrective measures.

Act as the primary liaison between the maintenance team and other departments within the organization.


Guarantee that operational areas receive timely, efficient, and high-quality maintenance services while ensuring that the maintenance team is afforded the opportunity to deliver these services.

Process all incoming work orders

Prioritize safety requirements in the planning of work activities.

Coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance tasks in collaboration with operational and maintenance supervisors.

The planner should possess comprehensive knowledge of each department's preventive maintenance workload to optimize scheduling.

Create additional sketches, diagrams, and documentation as necessary to clarify work order intentions.

Review and validate each work request to ensure proper completion.

Engage with the originating department to discuss work details as needed.

Confirm that requested work is necessary and suitable for maintenance intervention.

If there are uncertainties regarding the necessity or role of the work, escalate the work order to the maintenance manager for clarification.

Collaborate with engineering and management on work orders requiring design input.


Assess tasks to determine the most efficient execution methods, consulting with the requestor and/or maintenance manager as necessary.

Acquire blueprints, manuals, and special procedures from available resources. Develop additional sketches, diagrams, etc., to elucidate work order intentions.


Identify and requisition necessary materials, ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Verify the availability of required parts with inventory before scheduling work.

Estimate job sequences, technician requirements, and labor hours for each task. Document necessary materials and any special tools or equipment needed, along with job duration estimates.

Calculate the cost of each work order, considering direct labor, materials, and total expenses.

Maintain a backlog of work orders awaiting scheduling based on priority, including those pending engineering, materials, or downtime.

When ready for scheduling, organize work orders by supervisor according to required completion dates, ideally within a computerized system.


Before scheduling, confirm the availability of parts, materials, and special tools necessary for job execution.


Review the current day's schedule and manpower availability daily to validate staffing plans.

Develop a maintenance work schedule for the maintenance area supervisor.

From the backlog, select work orders that align with workforce capabilities, considering any carryover from previously scheduled jobs.


Based on established work schedules, coordinate the requisition of all necessary parts, materials, and tools, ensuring equipment readiness in agreement with operations.

Arrange for any required safety inspections and standby watch.

Distribute approved schedules along with relevant work orders and planning documents to area supervisors.

Discuss any special instructions or considerations for upcoming jobs as necessary.

(All non-emergency work orders are processed through the planner.)

Follow up to ensure that completed schedules and work orders are returned promptly.

Thoroughly review completed schedules and corresponding work orders submitted by maintenance area supervisors, monitoring progress for necessary reporting.


Maintain an open package of schedulable work orders that require equipment shutdown, prepared for execution in the event of unscheduled downtime.

These lists are prepared, reviewed, and updated regularly.


Develop a repository of standard work orders for recurring repair tasks, based on historical data, to streamline the planning process.


Collaborate with maintenance area supervisors to compare actual labor and material usage against estimates for completed jobs, identifying corrective actions to enhance estimating accuracy and work methods.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
An associate's degree or equivalent is required.

Experience with ERP Manufacturing systems or CMMS is preferred.

2-5 years of experience in maintenance and manufacturing supply management is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:
Strong analytical, mathematical, computer, and reasoning skills are essential.

Demonstrate core values of honesty and integrity.

A mechanical/electrical background is necessary, with technical school experience desired.
