Job Summary:The Strategic Sourcing Manager for Packaging Materials will lead the procurement activities for packaging categories for our NAFTA-based businesses and selected global categories. This role will develop and drive procurement strategies, identify opportunities to rationalize our supply base, and bring cost-effective procurement to our businesses.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop multiple-year strategic sourcing plans and objectives based on forecasts of future demand and economic trends.
- Analysis and furnish market intelligence for assigned commodities, including supply and demand trends, pricing, and technical information.
- Negotiate with key suppliers and ensure adequate contract coverage within the portfolio.
- Monitor strategy implementation progress and communicate with the business team to achieve financial targets.
- Own the Supplier Relationship Management process for assigned commodities and develop effective relationships with key suppliers.
- Packaging material knowledge, including proficiency in corrugated, flexible, and rigid plastic packaging materials.
- Strong negotiation and data analysis skills.
- Problem-solving, root cause identification, and follow-through to permanent solutions.
- Global commodity strategy development and business alignment.
- Industry knowledge, including strong market, technical, and procurement background sourcing raw materials.
- Innovative contracting in volatile markets to assure competitive pricing models.
- Technical or engineering background or experience, preferably in packaging material engineering or experience with glass and/or ceramic manufacturing.
- Project management skills.
Corning offers a competitive salary range of $92,000 to $127,179, assuming full-time status. Starting pay is dependent on various job-related factors. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and paid time off.
