We are looking for a dedicated Special Operations Performance Dietitian to offer expert guidance and nutritional counseling aimed at enhancing recovery and maximizing performance for special operations forces (SOF) personnel. This role focuses primarily on SOF Operators and Direct Combat Support personnel under the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both administrative and clinical tasks within the defined scope of practice.
  • Develop and document nutritional plans and counseling based on evidence-based research.
  • Advise leadership on nutrition-related issues impacting performance.
  • Work within the defined scope, which may include lab orders.
  • Provide individual and group counseling focused on performance nutrition.
  • Create and implement nutrition programs tailored for SOF personnel in various settings.
  • Establish nutritional guidelines for rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator to introduce new protocols.
  • Act as a nutrition advisor for dining facilities and liaise between food services and command.
  • Support other regional SOF resources as directed by the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Participate in meetings with POTFF staff and medical teams as required.
  • Advise on supplementary nutrition and performance-enhancing substances within the POTFF framework.
  • Ensure the availability of educational materials and sports nutrition supplies.
  • Assist with inventory management and provide input on supply requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities related to the Performance Dietitian role in safe working order.
  • Keep records updated as necessary.
  • Engage in periodic training for HP Staff members.
  • Attend required training sessions in line with established guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local mandatory training requirements.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including workload documentation and participation in quality assurance activities.
  • Engage in peer reviews as directed.
  • Develop training materials as requested by the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Document all work, utilization, encounters, and referrals in the Military's Electronic Health Record as directed.
  • Collect and report data as requested by the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Utilize necessary software and technologies as required by the Health Program Manager and/or Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition Science or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) certification. CSSD certification may be waived if all other qualifications are met, but should be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Current and valid state certification/licensure.
  • May need to obtain and maintain clinical practice privileges.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a Performance Dietitian with athletes at various competitive levels.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to meet physical demands associated with SOF training.
  • Must be capable of lifting loads up to 25 kilograms.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous military or SOF experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
