We are currently in search of a distinguished Special Operations Performance Dietitian who will offer expert guidance and nutritional counseling aimed at enhancing recovery and maximizing performance for special operations forces (SOF) personnel. The primary focus will be on SOF Operators and Direct Combat Support personnel under the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute administrative and clinical responsibilities within the designated scope of practice.
  • Deliver evidence-based nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation.
  • Advise leadership on nutrition-related matters affecting performance.
  • Operate within the scope of practice, which may include lab ordering.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling on performance nutrition.
  • Design and implement tailored performance nutrition programs for SOF personnel in various settings.
  • Establish nutritional protocols and guidelines to support rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator to implement new protocols and guidelines.
  • Act as a consultant on dining facility nutrition and serve as a liaison between food services and command.
  • Support other regional SOF assets as directed by the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Participate in meetings with POTFF staff and medical personnel as necessary.
  • Advise on supplementary nutrition and performance-enhancing substances within the POTFF framework.
  • Ensure availability of educational materials and sports nutrition supplies.
  • Assist with inventory management and provide input on supply requirements.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for equipment and facilities under the Performance Dietitian's oversight.
  • Ensure timely updates of records as required.
  • Engage in periodic training for HP Staff members.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions as per guidelines, including conferences or courses for continuing education credits.
  • Achieve full compliance with local command training requirements.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including workload documentation and participation in quality assurance activities.
  • Engage in peer reviews as directed.
  • Develop training materials as requested by the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Document all work performed and relevant data in the Military's Electronic Health Record and/or the HP Enterprise-wide database.
  • Collect and report data as requested by the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Utilize computers and software proficiently as required by the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition Science or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) certification. CSSD certification may be waived if all other qualifications are met, but should be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Current and valid state certification/licensure.
  • May need to maintain clinical practice privileges.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a Performance Dietitian with individual and group athletes, including NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, or SOF Operators.
  • Fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to meet physical demands associated with SOF training, including hiking in challenging terrains.
  • Capable of lifting and handling loads up to 25 kilograms.
  • Must hold current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military or SOF experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
