About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Officer to join our Public Safety team at Lycoming College. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and communication support to our campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and effectively to calls for service, documenting incidents and interactions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with campus community members and visitors in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Manage lost and found property, ensuring it is returned to its rightful owner.
  • Maintain accurate communication logs, including radio and telephone logs, and vehicle use logs.
  • Distribute and collect keys, ensuring they are securely stored in the key cabinet.
  • De-escalate difficult situations by remaining calm, empathetic, and in control, while exercising authority in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Assist local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services agencies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and email.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Effective written communication skills to document reports and communicate with colleagues.
