Job Summary

Glenn O. Hawbaker is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to assist with the management and administrative requirements for heavy and highway construction and site development projects. This hourly, non-exempt position will work with direct and indirect supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review reports, business correspondence, and documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review, distribute, and discuss incoming correspondence with project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare outgoing correspondence for signature and distribution, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Review and submit shop drawings and submittals to project managers, material suppliers, and subcontractors for approval.
  • Process change orders, work authorizations, force accounts, and progress payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Understand and apply ECMS processes for PennDOT projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Schedule entries into Primavera scheduling software, ensuring accurate and up-to-date project information.
  • Provide support to project managers and superintendents to ensure proper procedures and processes are followed.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours, including night shifts, Saturdays, and occasional Sundays.
Requirements
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of correspondence and document preparation, change orders, progress payments, and other administrative tasks.
  • Understanding of civil engineering and construction principles, including project scheduling and cost estimating.
  • Ability to learn and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of PennDOT ECMS processes.
Education and Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • Completion of required training programs, including Basic Management, Drug-Free Workplace, Selecting & Retaining, Heavy Job Management, Viewpoint, OSHA 30 Hour, HCSS, and ECMS.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a field environment with exposure to dust, noise, inclement weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, faxes, etc.
