Position Summary:

The role of Senior EO/IR Systems Engineer encompasses comprehensive involvement in system development, from initial proposal stages to final design, production, assembly, integration, verification, and delivery. You will provide essential technical guidance and leadership to diverse integrated product teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and refining customer requirements while aiding business development in identifying future contract opportunities.
  • Creating the overarching system architecture for mission solutions, which includes optical and electronic design specifications, on-board processing criteria, platform interfaces, and operational concepts.
  • Conducting and supervising system design evaluations.
  • Acting as the primary technical liaison with customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leading program teams across various engineering disciplines and collaborating with program management to formulate optical system design concepts and translate system requirements to lower-level components.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations for formal design reviews and client meetings.
  • Defining and spearheading internal research and development initiatives.

Qualifications:

Basic:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to decompose complex systems into manageable components and develop necessary error budgets and requirements traceability.
  • Experience in evaluating and defining the optical, mechanical, electrical, and environmental factors influencing EO/IR systems and their overall compliance with requirements.
  • Proficient in program planning, including scope definition, resource allocation, and budgeting.
  • Strong technical writing skills, encompassing proposal content, requirements specifications, verification matrices, and reports.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience in designing and developing imaging systems for space missions.
  • Familiarity with EO industry capabilities such as focal planes and electronics, aiding in the architecture of EO payloads.
  • Understanding of mission-level performance metrics including image quality, modulation transfer function, signal-to-noise ratio, and geolocation.
  • Knowledge of mission-level phenomenology, including solar illumination and thermal emissions.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $210,000 and $260,000, with actual compensation determined based on individual qualifications and experience.

This position is based in a professional office setting, requiring the ability to engage in various tasks, including prolonged periods of sitting and the occasional lifting of items.

Security Clearance:

Due to contract stipulations, U.S. citizenship is mandatory, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
