Position Summary: The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the surgical schedule for a team of orthopedic surgeons. This position involves meticulous coordination of various pre-operative and post-operative tasks to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the scheduling of surgeries for multiple orthopedic surgeons, ensuring all pre-operative requirements are met, including consultations, imaging, and clearances.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their eligibility for surgical procedures and relay necessary information.
  • Collaborate with vendor representatives to arrange for required surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare and organize all necessary documentation, including surgery orders and patient packets.
  • Manage incoming calls, ensuring effective communication and transfer of information to relevant departments.
  • Facilitate the scheduling of urgent or last-minute surgical cases in collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate consult information and assist in the rounding process for surgical teams.
  • Ensure timely communication of patient information to mid-level providers for pre-operative visits.
  • Coordinate post-operative appointments and follow-up care for patients.
  • Manage the collection and organization of pre-operative lab results for physician review.
  • Assist the workers' compensation department by providing necessary information for authorization processes.
  • Prepare surgical charts and assist in the setup for clinic patients.
  • Handle the fax queue and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Engage in daily communication with physicians and mid-level providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Foster positive relationships with surgical facilities and the joint center to streamline processes.
  • Work closely with the insurance department to manage authorizations and financial agreements related to surgeries.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems to access and manage patient information efficiently.
  • Distribute daily staffing and surgical lists to relevant personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or healthcare providers.
