Library Systems & Services is seeking an experienced Archival Specialist to participate in a significant collection discoverability project at a prominent institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed finding aids to facilitate user discovery and navigation of unprocessed materials within the collection.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with project staff to analyze and process both analog and digital materials, ensuring accurate and comprehensive archival description.
- Analyze collection materials to identify main subject areas, creators, time periods, and other relevant factors.
- Develop and implement recommendations for reorganization and final disposition of collection materials.
- Prepare and rehouse collection storage materials, including boxes, envelopes, and sleeves.
- Create high-quality finding aids for unprocessed collection materials, adhering to established standards and best practices.
- Integrate finding aids into systems, ensuring seamless user experience.
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in records and archives.
- At least 1-2 years of experience processing archival collections, including preparation of DACS-compliant finding aids.
- Familiarity with archival standards and best practices, including DACS and EADS.
- Knowledge of and experience with medical archival materials.
