Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Manager to lead our efforts in creating a safe and sustainable work environment for all Schreiber Foods partners, customers, visitors, and contractors. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective environmental and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Lead efforts to improve safety and environmental compliance for applicable programs, ensuring that all relevant regulations are met and exceeded.
    • Assess strengths and weaknesses of our safety and environmental programs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Written Programs and Training
    • Develop, maintain, and improve written environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring that they are comprehensive, effective, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee and administer safety and environmental training programs, ensuring that all partners receive the necessary training to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Inspections and Audits
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
    • Lead our team in responding to regulatory agency inspections and audits, ensuring that we are prepared and compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis
    • Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
    • Work collaboratively with partners and leaders to identify and address safety and environmental concerns, ensuring that we are proactive in preventing incidents and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability.
  • Behavior-Based Safety and Performance Metrics
    • Develop and implement behavior-based safety programs, ensuring that all partners understand their role in promoting a safe and sustainable work environment.
    • Establish and track performance metrics, ensuring that we are measuring and improving our safety and environmental performance over time.
  • Accountability and Budget Management
    • Accountable for the safety and environmental budget, ensuring that we are allocating resources effectively to support our safety and environmental initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively with partners and leaders to identify and address safety and environmental concerns, ensuring that we are proactive in preventing incidents and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability.
  • Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
    • Stay current with industry developments and best practices, ensuring that we are always improving our safety and environmental performance.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities, ensuring that we are always learning and growing as a team.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent, plus a license or certification in occupational safety and health, or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • At least 5 years of experience in creating and implementing safety programs, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with partners and leaders at all levels.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address safety and environmental concerns.
    • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, as required.
