The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for executing standard medical and diagnostic procedures under the direct oversight of the attending clinician. This role also encompasses support in various operational areas of the facility, including patient registration and referral coordination. The EMT must ensure the efficient and precise provision of individualized patient care while thriving in a dynamic environment, guaranteeing that every patient receives top-notch clinical attention and a respectful, welcoming experience.
Availability for PRN Weekend Shifts Required
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol assessments.
- Prepare patients for physical evaluations, including taking vital signs and performing necessary ancillary tests such as vaccinations, phlebotomy, and pulmonary function assessments.
- Administer rapid diagnostic tests (e.g., influenza, strep, glucose).
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and treatments.
- Assess the nature and severity of injuries or illnesses to determine appropriate first aid measures or the need for further medical assistance.
- Carry out routine medical procedures as directed by the attending clinician and triage urgent cases as necessary.
- Prepare and assist clinicians with procedural setups and injury management.
- Dispense medications and durable medical equipment as prescribed by the clinician, adhering to state regulations.
- Administer first-aid treatments, which may include applying splints, providing oxygen, or performing minor wound care.
- Communicate with emergency medical personnel to obtain further treatment instructions as directed by the Center Medical Director.
- Engage in quality assurance activities related to medical equipment and testing processes.
- Maintain inventory, sanitize rooms and equipment, and restock examination areas.
- Complete required training, including ongoing clinical competency evaluations.
- Operate and maintain all medical devices and equipment, ensuring proper calibration and documentation.
- Alert supervisors immediately regarding equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or operational issues.
- Collaborate with center leadership to facilitate patient flow and manage volume.
- Keep patients informed about expected wait times throughout their visit.
- Cross-train for Front Office responsibilities, including patient greetings, authorization retrieval, and multi-line phone management.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Participate in center staff meetings or huddles as required.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and orderly facility.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Certifications in Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Testing, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in a related role
