Position Overview
Join a vibrant and innovative team in our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), where we deliver advanced critical care to pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Our unit is among the largest and most sophisticated in the western United States, treating over 750 patients annually. Currently, we operate a 29-bed facility with plans for future expansion.
Our Pediatric Heart Transplant program is enhanced by the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) initiative, which provides mechanical circulatory support options, including ECMO and other devices. Our team is recognized nationally for its expertise in managing complex cardiac cases.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team consists of 19 skilled Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, collaborating to deliver exceptional care. With a collective experience exceeding 90 years in pediatric cardiac nursing, our team is passionate about advancing care in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
As an advanced practice provider, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting pre-round assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Presenting patient cases during rounds and executing the agreed-upon treatment strategies.
- Performing essential procedures such as intubation, line placements, and chest tube management.
Opportunities for professional growth include participation in clinical ladders, grand rounds, and various committees.
Qualifications
A Master's or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Candidates must have graduated from an NP program accredited by recognized nursing accreditation bodies and possess the necessary licensure and certification. Experience in pediatric cardiology or intensive care is highly desirable.
Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider roles are integral to a collaborative team of physicians and advanced practice providers. Responsibilities include receiving patient handoffs, pre-rounding, developing daily care plans, and addressing any concerns raised by nursing staff. The APP is credentialed to perform various procedures essential for patient care.
Essential Functions
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluating and managing patients with acute and chronic health issues.
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and interpreting diagnostic results.
- Prescribing medications and coordinating therapeutic services.
- Facilitating patient education and support.

Compensation
Salary is determined based on the role's requirements and the candidate's qualifications, with a typical range for this position being $182,228.80 to $222,071.20.
