Position Overview

The Building Management Systems (BMS) Field Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the field execution of automation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate various automation installation projects effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to discuss changes in scope, priorities, and timelines.
  • Examine contract documents and align them with RFIs and project communications to confirm the execution of approved additional scope.
  • Oversee subcontractors, ensuring that work is prioritized to meet deadlines, while also authorizing and documenting any additional tasks.
  • Develop strategies to ensure timely completion of tasks necessary for subsequent trades to proceed without delay.
  • Coordinate with other trades and the General Contractor regarding installation requirements, device locations, and system functionality.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with company members, clients, subcontractors, and other contractors.
  • Anticipate and manage short-term and unpredictable deadlines effectively.
  • Conduct necessary check-outs, commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance on building automation systems and associated controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair panels for building automation systems, including communication equipment and electronic controls.
  • Edit computer programs for building automation system points, ensuring accurate conversion patterns and alarm specifications.
  • Implement energy-saving measures by utilizing and modifying existing features of the building automation system.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including commissioning reports, daily logs, as-builts, and status updates.
  • Plan and execute job responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards.
  • Assist in evaluating and training junior technicians.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of job-related skills and stay updated on industry advancements.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of field experience in the HVAC controls sector, including expertise in DDC systems commissioning and software integration.
  • Familiarity with Automated Logic commissioning tools and field circuit troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Understanding of the construction industry, particularly in mechanical and electrical domains.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, WebCTRL, AutoCAD, and various operating systems.
  • Demonstrated history of completing projects on time, being self-driven, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
