Electrical Assembly Specialist

Electrical Assembly Specialists will receive training to prepare, construct, and wire medium to large enclosures from inception to completion, following our established shop procedures and client specifications. Accent Controls is UL508 Certified, with capabilities in NEC-79, Custom Engraving, Quality Control & Power Up (multi-point checklist), and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, you will be trained to drill, tap, and assemble back plates and small enclosures, utilizing a Bill of Material and layout drawings as references. You will also learn to pre-cut wire and pre-wire swing arms for programmable logic controllers (PLC) and modular receptacles, along with other preparatory tasks. Additionally, you will be trained to interpret simple schematics to accomplish these objectives. You will gain skills in forming, routing, labeling, and terminating wires to and from control panel components and at the control panel terminal strip.

In this role, you will:
  • Study and familiarize yourself with the Accent Controls Shop Manual.
  • Review and understand the Accent Controls Safety Manual.
  • Gain knowledge of various procedures and processes related to Mass Production.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills.
  • Be assigned a mobile workstation, responsible for maintaining your tools and keeping the area organized.
  • Learn the importance of teamwork and contribute as a member of the Shop Production team.
  • Work with hand and power tools while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Follow the Shop Production Spreadsheet diligently.
  • Master step-by-step procedures while managing your time to meet deadlines.
  • Repetitively produce control panels in quantity without compromising quality.

  • Advancing from the Electrical Assembly Specialist position to Junior Panel Builder, Panel Builder, and ultimately to Senior Panel Builder.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Report daily progress to the Shop Project Manager.
Working Environment

Work is conducted on concrete floors and in areas that may be drafty. Exposure to fumes, fluids, and dirt is possible. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Position is based in a warehouse setting.
  • Routine physical activities include reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting/carrying objects over 35 lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, and high noise levels may occur.
  • Work may be subject to varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional sedentary tasks may be required.
  • Visual acuity is necessary to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in assigned tasks.
Accountability

Work is performed under the guidance of the Project Manager, who provides direction based on established shop operating procedures. Work instructions are also provided through work orders.

Qualifications

No prior experience is necessary. Candidates must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals and publications, and be willing to learn to interpret electrical specifications, tolerance limits, and troubleshooting techniques. A valid state driver's license is required.

Education Requirements

A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
