Job Summary

Barrios Technology HQ is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our Corporate Finance Team. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience with payroll agencies, preferably UKG, and ERP system experience. Government contractor experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the accounting team, Human Resources, and employees to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Perform employee payroll setup in the payroll system.
  • Process payroll-related payments.
  • Prepare leave accrual journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations, and assist with monthly close processes.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial records, and assist with audits.
  • File state and local taxes and surveys.
  • Support other roles within Accounting and Finance.
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Corporate Controller as needed.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
  • Ability to have face-to-face conversations with coworkers and high-level management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
  • Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly, and demonstrate effective problem-solving and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Experience with Deltek, CostPoint, and UKG Payroll and Timekeeping.
  • Government contractor experience.
  • ERP system experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
