Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
Barrios Technology HQ is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our Corporate Finance Team. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience with payroll agencies, preferably UKG, and ERP system experience. Government contractor experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the accounting team, Human Resources, and employees to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Perform employee payroll setup in the payroll system.
- Process payroll-related payments.
- Prepare leave accrual journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations, and assist with monthly close processes.
- Respond to information requests, review financial records, and assist with audits.
- File state and local taxes and surveys.
- Support other roles within Accounting and Finance.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Corporate Controller as needed.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of payroll experience.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
- Ability to have face-to-face conversations with coworkers and high-level management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
- Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly, and demonstrate effective problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Experience with Deltek, CostPoint, and UKG Payroll and Timekeeping.
- Government contractor experience.
- ERP system experience.
Essential Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

- Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
- Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
- Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.).
- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
