Optometric Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Optometric Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an Optometric Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmology department.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies.
- Assist patients with ordering and dispensing glasses and contact lenses.
- Perform basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings, such as visual field/acuity, tonometry, and topography.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment, and sterilize instruments using appropriate techniques.
- Assist with scheduling patients for post-operative, surgery, and specialist appointments.
- May assist the ophthalmologist with basic or routine surgical procedures and post-operative care or treatment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
- High School Graduate.
- No experience required.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems.
