About the Role

The Director of the Multicultural Center will play a critical role in advancing our commitment to inclusive excellence. This student-facing role involves strategic planning, delivering impactful programs and training, and organizing initiatives that uphold the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will create a supportive Simmons community where every student can thrive, requiring a profound understanding of DEI pedagogy, a clear theory of change, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Programming and Training (35%): Develop and implement strategies and programming to foster inclusion and equity for historically underrepresented students.
  2. Collaborative Programming & Stakeholder Engagement (25%): Collaborate with academic departments, advancement, admissions, student engagement, and local/national community partners to enhance programmatic efforts and cultivate identity-based resources.
  3. Operations and Logistics (25%): Manage daily operations of the MCC, including budget oversight and expenditure monitoring.
  4. Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting (15%): Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of MCC and DEI initiatives.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in higher education administration, student development, counseling, or related field preferred.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in multicultural affairs, diversity and inclusion, or student activities, particularly with underrepresented populations.

Proven success in program planning and implementation, focusing on high-impact DEI initiatives.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, fostering team development and accountability.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong community-building and facilitation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proven adaptability in dynamic and diverse environments, with strong problem-solving abilities.

Familiarity with communication and marketing tools, including Canva and social media platforms.
