The Material Handling Specialist plays a crucial role in the efficient management of building materials and other supplies, ensuring their proper loading and unloading for either delivery or storage.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

- Transport loads, stock, or other materials to and from various locations such as storage or production areas, loading zones, and delivery vehicles, utilizing material handling equipment or manual methods as necessary.

- Affix identifying labels to loads, stock, or other materials.
- Interpret work orders or receive verbal instructions to ascertain work assignments or operational requirements.

- Organize and stack loads in designated areas, including material sheds, storage zones, and loading areas, using appropriate equipment or manual techniques.

- Execute general yard maintenance tasks.
- Verify orders for accuracy in accordance with reporting protocols and escalate incomplete orders for further action.
- Assess outgoing work to ensure compliance with order specifications.
- Check inventory systems to confirm the availability of requested items.
- Alert relevant departments when supplies are running low or when orders may exhaust available stock.
- Maintain copies of received orders or update records as necessary.
- Uphold proficiency in all organizational safety policies and practices.
- Ensure a safe and tidy work environment.
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
- Comply with company policies and operational requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating both written and verbal instructions.
- Capable of operating various hand and power tools as needed.
- Skilled in using different types of material handling equipment, including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts when required.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: 6 months of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:
- This position necessitates frequent standing, walking, and sitting, while working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

- Must maintain adequate physical condition to meet job requirements, including mental acuity, physical dexterity, grip strength, depth perception, and other physical attributes essential for safe job performance in accordance with all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations.

- Ability to lift or carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push or pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Required to wear designated personal protective equipment when handling materials or operating machinery.

Other Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment and required drug screenings as necessary.
- Must successfully complete a Physical Capacity Assessment as requested.
