Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Processing:
    • Accurately process payroll for all employees.
    • Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, and bonuses as applicable.
    • Ensure all payroll transactions comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  2. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files, including exemptions, leaves, and non-taxable wages.
    • Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
  3. Employee Queries:
    • Serve as the point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries from employees.
    • Resolve any issues related to payroll processing promptly and accurately.
  4. Tax Management:
    • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes in compliance with governing rules and regulations.
    • Prepare and submit tax reports and other necessary documentation to federal, state, and local tax agencies.
  5. Benefits Administration:
    • Coordinate with the HR department to administer employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other company-provided benefits.
    • Ensure accurate deductions and record-keeping for all benefits.
  6. Audit and Compliance:
    • Assist in payroll audits and ensure that policies and procedures comply with regulatory standards.
    • Update payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/division transfers.
  7. System Management:
    • Utilize payroll management software to process payroll efficiently.
    • Recommend upgrades to payroll software, systems, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient with payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Paychex).
    • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
    • Good understanding of the entire payroll process and applicable laws.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle confidential information.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
