Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of various heavy machinery, including directional drills, pipeline trenchers, brush chippers, stump grinders, horizontal grinders, excavators, and aerial lifts. This role involves performing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs to ensure the safe operation of equipment. While a Class 'A' CDL is not mandatory, the willingness to obtain one can lead to further career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify faults.
  • Assess necessary parts and tools for repairs.
  • Execute electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs, along with preventative maintenance using both hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance services.
  • Test repaired equipment to confirm successful functionality.
  • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Refer to equipment manuals and schematics for guidance.
  • Complete service documentation promptly using a computerized system.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in electrical and hydraulic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities.

  • Familiarity with computer testing technologies.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Two to five years of experience in heavy equipment repair or completion of a formal technical training program is preferred.
  • Experience in the agricultural sector is advantageous.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred for career growth.
