Your Role:
As the Assistant Financial Controller, you will play a key role in our finance department, working closely with the Corporate Controller. Your responsibilities will include managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and optimizing our financial processes. This position is an opportunity to lead initiatives that enhance our financial health and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to oversee daily accounting functions, ensuring precision and effectiveness in all financial activities.
- Lead the monthly and annual closing processes, guaranteeing that financial reports are accurate and timely, providing valuable insights.
- Conduct comprehensive variance analyses to evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
- Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures, providing training to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Create financial models and forecasts that support strategic planning and budgeting efforts.
- Monitor cash flow, assess financial risks, and implement controls to protect company assets.
- Ensure adherence to all accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts, collaborating with department leaders to align financial objectives with business goals.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, recommending enhancements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
What We Seek:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CMA credentials are advantageous.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in contract or construction accounting.
- A solid understanding of GAAP and accounting standards relevant to the industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar, along with advanced Excel skills for financial analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and a high level of integrity.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple priorities.
