Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. As a PCA, you will provide continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
2. Implement evidence-based de-escalation interventions to ensure patient safety and well-being.
3. Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
4. Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
5. Provide direct patient care, including vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
6. Stock linens and supplies as needed.
7. Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
8. Prioritize and execute tasks for assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
9. Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
10. Maintain a calm and professional presence for patients and their family members.
11. Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association required.
3. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, 36 hours/week, with a 7pm-7:30am shift. Onsite work is required.
