Job Overview

Position Objective: To enhance Production, Quality, and Engineering by providing essential resources while minimizing scrap, rework, and internal defects.

Key Responsibilities: The individual in this role is accountable for:

  • Acting as the advocate for customers, collaborating with their locations to comprehend product usage, identify assembly challenges, and facilitate resolutions.
  • Implementing measures to mitigate and prevent defects from reaching customers, adhering to AIAG and TS 16949 standards.
  • Educating associates, engineers, and management on fundamental quality tools, including the 8 Quality Basics.
  • Conducting audits on the production floor and welding cells to identify potential issues and defect risks.
  • Reviewing and updating Work Instructions in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering to incorporate in-process inspections, first-off checks, and end-of-line inspections.
  • Evaluating gauge instructions for accuracy and performing Gauge R&R studies.
  • Documenting, tracking, and analyzing customer issues and returns.
  • Participating in Plant Level Program Management initiatives, ensuring that APQP deliverables align with program timelines.
  • Supporting the Metrology Lab through CMM Programming and Layout activities.
  • Identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for defects using QPS and 8D methodologies.
  • Creating and revising gauge instructions, providing training as necessary for Gage Control.
  • Mentoring team members in Problem Solving activities.
  • Coordinating proper layouts (CMM) of parts for PPAP, Customer, and supplier, reviewing and updating as necessary.
  • Facilitating product certification via PPAP in collaboration with the customer.

Additional Responsibilities: The incumbent is also responsible for:

  • Conducting all business activities on behalf of Purem Novi Inc, in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Supporting and adhering to all local and corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in quality-related tasks, while seeking opportunities for improvement and promoting quality.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Educational Background / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, CMM Programming, Tier 1 Automotive Product Launch, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Supervisory Experience, and Gage Control.
  • Knowledge of program management and quality principles.
  • Willingness to travel domestically by car or plane.
  • Prior training in PPAP, APQP (Control Plan / FMEA), GD&T, SPC, and Audit Training (TS16949, internal audits, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports and projections.
  • Proficient in applying mathematical concepts and operations.
  • Capable of reading and understanding simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Analytical skills to synthesize complex information and design workflows.
  • Business acumen to understand the implications of decisions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies for manufacturability.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals, mechanical systems, automotive systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Project management skills to develop and coordinate project plans, ensuring timely completion.
