Job Overview

Position Objective: Enhance Production, Quality, and Engineering functions by providing essential resources to minimize scrap, rework, and internal defects.

Key Responsibilities: The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that:

  • Act as the advocate for customers, collaborating with various locations to comprehend product usage in their environments, identifying assembly challenges, and driving solutions.
  • Mitigate and prevent defects from reaching customers by adhering to AIAG and TS 16949 standards.
  • Educate associates, engineers, and management on fundamental quality tools, including the 8 Quality Basics.
  • Conduct audits on the production floor and welding cells to identify potential issues and defect risks.
  • Examine Work Instructions and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to incorporate in-process inspections, initial checks, and final inspections.
  • Assess gauge instructions for accuracy and execute Gauge R&R studies.
  • Document, track, and analyze customer issues and returns.
  • Engage in Plant Level Program Management initiatives, ensuring APQP deliverables align with program timelines.
  • Support the Metrology Lab by performing CMM Programming and Layout tasks.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions for defects using QPS and 8D methodologies.
  • Create and revise gauge instructions, providing training as necessary for Gage Control.
  • Guide and mentor team members in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Organize and ensure accurate layouts (CMM) of parts for PPAP, Customer, and supplier reviews, updating as required.
  • Coordinate product certification through PPAP with customers.

Additional Responsibilities: The incumbent is also responsible for:

  • Conducting all business activities on behalf of Purem Novi Inc while adhering to applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Supporting and complying with all local and corporate health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in quality-related tasks, following all policies related to TS16949 and ISO 14001, and seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Educational Background / Basic Qualifications / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, CMM Programming, Tier 1 Automotive Product Launch, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Supervisory Experience, and Gage Control.
  • Knowledge of program management and quality principles.
  • Willingness to travel domestically by car or plane.
  • Prior training in PPAP, APQP (Control Plan / FMEA), GD&T, SPC, and Audit Training (TS16949, internal audits, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports and projections.
  • Proficient in applying mathematical concepts and operations.
  • Capability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Analytical skills to synthesize complex information and design workflows.
  • Business acumen to comprehend the implications of decisions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes for manufacturability.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals, mechanical systems, automotive systems, and exhaust systems.
