Job Summary

The Surgical Services Associate Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Manager of Surgical Services in the daily operations of surgical services, including the OR, SPU/PACU, and Endoscopy. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager in maintaining a process of identifying, evaluating, and implementing cost structure improvements to develop a basis for assessing overall cost effectiveness in units.
  • Undertake appropriate planning of resource allocations, staffing, and acuity systems through continuous evaluation, revision, and communication of unit staff matrix and resources.
  • Maintain effective collaborative physician/colleague relationships to achieve financial targets.
  • Assist with recruitment and hiring of staff, provide leadership and direction in support of the organization and department goals and objectives, conduct performance appraisals, counsel employees, and act on disciplinary problems.
  • Develop and maintain staffing patterns for the units, assist in the coordination and leadership of staff and UBT meetings, and monitor compliance of staff with employee requirements.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and standards of care for the units, supervise and assist in the delivery of patient care, develop and achieve departmental goals and objectives in support of Surgical Services, and coordinate inter-departmental and intra-departmental problem resolution.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, prepare for local and inter-regional surveys, develop orientation plans for new hires to the unit, assist in the coordination of in-service for all surgical services, work with educators to develop and mentor preceptors, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years of RN clinical experience in OR and/or PACU, L&D, CVL, GI.
  • Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated staff leadership or advance nursing practice role.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated knowledge in Surgical Services area of clinical experience.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • CNOR.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.
