Nurse Director

Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director to lead our nursing team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units or services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure quality and appropriateness of care by facilitating and supporting the establishment of unit-based quality improvement programs and continuous improvement processes.
- Create an environment of shared decision-making by promoting multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care and related issues.
- Promote positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors, and employees by following up on all complaints and providing feedback.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate staff development and competency maintenance programs to ensure that elements of performance improvement findings are incorporated into educational programs as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust capital and operating budgets to ensure effective cost containment measures.
- Collaborate with DMC Finance representatives to create supplemental reports as needed.
- Interview, select, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate unit personnel while ensuring that appropriate human resource activities are completed on a timely basis and in conformance with established policy.
- Ensure that all policies, procedures, and standards related to assigned unit/service areas are reviewed, revised, and monitored as outlined by regulatory standards and that clinical policies are evidence-based.
- Develop unit/service goals and objectives and strategies that promote the mission, vision, and values of the DMC, the individual operating unit, and/or clinical service.
Requirements:
- Masters Degree Required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or related field. One of the two degrees must be in Nursing.
- Three to five years of experience, which may be concurrent clinical and/or progressively more responsible management experience.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
