Key Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Java Software Engineer (Mid-Level) to join our dynamic team, dedicated to serving the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. In this role, you will engage with cutting-edge service and distributed computing technologies focused on satellite situational awareness (SSA) data processing and dissemination.

The EMMETT initiative, a state-of-the-art Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, aims to create a comprehensive repository of resident space objects (RSOs), identify RSOs of interest, and deliver critical data to ground operators. The EMMETT team leverages programmatic strategies, sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to provide this premier SDA I&W solution.

Your Contributions to the Common Data Services (CDS) on EMMETT:

  • Execute TS/SCI Java software development for various modules, employing techniques such as event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception management.
  • Conduct TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services across unit, module, and system levels.
  • Oversee all facets of software engineering support necessary for system implementation.
  • Comply with open standards and contemporary software development methodologies, adhering to industry 'best' practices as operational requirements permit.
  • Generate technical reports, white papers, and other documentation to capture findings from all software engineering activities.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree coupled with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This role necessitates the candidate to hold a minimum of Top Secret clearance with the capability to upgrade to TS/SCI and successfully pass a polygraph examination as required.
  • Proficiency in Java (Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), Data Access (DAO)).
  • Experience in software design and development with cloud architecture, including containerization (Docker).
  • Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems, particularly RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Knowledge of the Spring framework.
  • Experience in JUnit test creation, Remote Debugging (JDWP), and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
  • Proficient with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and REDIS (understanding queries and commands).
  • Experience navigating and utilizing Linux distributions.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Understanding of web application fundamentals, including HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or progress towards certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, such as Python or Perl.
  • Familiarity with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of Bootstrap and Less.
  • Experience with Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes using Spring Boot.
  • Experience utilizing AWS as a developer.
  • Familiarity with build/deploy tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into a larger framework.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • A background in physics, mathematics, or aerospace is advantageous.

Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
