The EMMETT initiative, a cutting-edge Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, aims to create a comprehensive repository of resident space objects (RSOs), identify RSOs of interest, and deliver data to ground operators. The EMMETT team employs programmatic strategies, sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to provide this exceptional SDA I&W system.

Responsibilities in Supporting the Common Data Services (CDS) on EMMETT:
  • Conduct TS/SCI Java software development for various modules, utilizing techniques such as event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception handling.
  • Engage in TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services at multiple levels including unit, module, and system.
  • Oversee all facets of software engineering support necessary for system implementation.
  • Comply with open standards and contemporary software development methodologies, adhering to industry best practices as operational requirements permit.
  • Generate technical reports, white papers, and documentation to record findings from all software engineering service activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with over 10 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • This position mandates that the candidate holds a minimum of Top Secret clearance with the capability to upgrade to TS/SCI and successfully pass a polygraph examination.
  • Proficiency in Java, including Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), and Data Access (DAO) patterns.
  • Experience in software design and development within cloud architectures, including the use of container technologies (Docker).
  • Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems, particularly RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Knowledge of Remote Debugging (JDWP) and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
  • Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, including query and command understanding.
  • Competence in navigating and utilizing Linux distributions.
  • Experience with messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Basic understanding of web application fundamentals including HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and version control systems like Gerrit/GIT.
  • Experience with REST API/API Gateway.
  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with microservices, containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including RDS and ElastiCache.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python.
  • Experience with web server configuration on platforms like NGINX or Apache.
  • Familiarity with AWS as a development environment.
  • Experience with build and deployment tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into larger frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • A background in physics, mathematics, or aerospace is preferred.
  • Experience with NiFi, including flow and process group development.
  • Possession of an active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or working towards it.
