Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a Senior JAVA Developer to contribute to our efforts in supporting the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense clients as part of a skilled and high-achieving team. This role involves working with cutting-edge service and distributed computing technologies for satellite situational awareness (SSA) data processing and dissemination.

The EMMETT initiative, a state-of-the-art Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system, aims to create a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), identify RSOs of interest, and supply data to ground operators. The EMMETT team leverages programmatic strategies, sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to deliver this premier SDA I&W system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct TS/SCI Java software development for various modules, utilizing techniques such as event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception handling.
  • Engage in TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services at the unit, module, and system levels.
  • Oversee all facets of software engineering support necessary for system implementation.
  • Adhere to open standards and contemporary software development methodologies, implementing industry-recognized best practices as operational requirements permit.
  • Generate technical reports, white papers, and other documentation to record findings from all software engineering service activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This position necessitates the candidate to possess a minimum of Top Secret clearance with the capability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph as required.
  • Proficiency in Java (Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), Data Access (DAO)).
  • Experience in software design and development with cloud architecture, including the use of containers (Docker).
  • Familiarity with Unix-based operating systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with Remote Debugging (JDWP) and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, including query and command understanding.
  • Experience with Linux distributions and command usage.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
  • Understanding of web application fundamentals including HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
  • Experience with Rest API/API Gateway.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as RDS, ElastiCache, or similar.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, such as Python.
  • Familiarity with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar.
  • Experience using AWS as a developer.
  • Experience with build/deploy tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Experience collaborating with external developers and integrating their components into a larger framework.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Background in physics, mathematics, or aerospace.
  • Experience with NiFi, developing flows and process groups.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or working towards certification.
