Job Overview

Hubbell Power Systems is seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to join our team. As a key member of our supply chain team, you will be responsible for managing the global supply chain for our Insulation & Voltage Protection business unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual inventory plans and monthly forecasts to ensure raw and WIP inventory levels are within established limits.
  • Manage the supply chain through effective use of current and future systems, including SAP, and efficient utilization of purchasing, planning, shipping, and receiving employees.
  • Identify and implement methods to minimize component shortages while meeting raw and WIP inventory level targets.
  • Monitor capacity and load on internal work centers to achieve and maintain acceptable lead times, driving for continuous lead-time reduction.
  • Initiate and maintain excess and obsolete inventory programs, identifying, categorizing, and disposing of material as needed.
  • Manage material logistics associated with supplying material to other HPS locations.
  • Work closely with the Forecasting Planner to ensure the integrity of forecasts loaded in MRP.
  • Monitor and report to leadership on strategic measurements, including inventory, delivery service, demonstrated lead time, and supplier performance, for the business unit.
  • Direct the annual physical inventory and account for variances.
  • Review and disposition all engineering change notices (ECNs) that involve manufactured or purchased components, implementing ECNs using methods to ensure no interruption in parts availability and minimize obsolescence.
  • Work with purchasing resources to develop vendor relationships, reduce costs, reduce lead-times, improve quality, and improve on-time performance.
  • Manage and direct a team of buyers, planners, and schedulers for the business unit, including directing workload, managing performance, coaching, and counseling.

Requirements
  • BS degree in business or related field required.
  • 10 years of experience in a materials-related role required, with experience directly in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3-5 years of minimum experience supervising direct reports required.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • SAP or similar ERP experience required.
