Position Overview

HDR Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Transportation Systems Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Transportation Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing design-related services for transportation initiatives, including highway, state, city, and county roadways.
  • Engaging in projects that encompass traffic system operations, design, and analyses of interchanges and intersections.
  • Conducting operational analyses, roadway capacity evaluations, and traffic safety studies.
  • Preparing Plan, Specification, and Estimate (PS&E) documents, including traffic signal design, signing, pavement marking, and illumination plans.
  • Implementing traffic signal system timings and conducting traffic safety studies using advanced transportation engineering models.
  • Offering technical support in advanced traffic signal system analysis and optimization.
  • Performing traffic engineering design for roadways, intersections, and pedestrian facilities.
  • Contributing to business development efforts as needed.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Traffic/Transportation Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a traffic engineering role focused on urban and rural highways.
  • Possession of a Texas P.E. License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Experience in traffic operations, safety, highway capacity analysis, and traffic signal system design.
  • Proficiency in Microstation, SIGN CAD, AGI-32, and simulation modeling tools such as SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, VISSIM, and HCS.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
