We are seeking an Infant Hearing Assessment Specialist- PRN to enhance our team of committed caregivers.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Job Responsibilities:
Conducts pre-testing procedures, ensuring the safe transport of newborns while adhering to hospital protocols for infant security and identification, proper placement of sensor tabs, and sound transducer functionality, troubleshooting and reporting any issues as needed.
Monitors ambient noise levels during testing and makes necessary adjustments to ensure a conducive environment while performing hearing screenings on all newborns and infants prior to discharge, in accordance with relevant health regulations and facility protocols using appropriate objective methods:
Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) and/or Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR).Communicates screening results and follow-up information (if required) to the family in a confidential and culturally sensitive manner.
Delivers test results and addresses inquiries after comprehensive training by the Audiologist serving as the Coordinator.Documents results in compliance with legal requirements for caregivers and primary care providers within designated timelines.
Accurately records necessary information, including quality assurance activities.
Adheres to policies and procedures regarding infant care within the work environment. Escalates issues to the appropriate clinical team.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma.
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant health field may substitute for experience.
Work Complexity:
Commits to a collaborative team approach for 7-day service coverage and adapts to an unpredictable daily patient load.
Ensures confidentiality in accordance with privacy regulations and Cleveland Clinic policies.
Requires critical thinking and sound judgment.
Must be capable of working in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment and taking appropriate actions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Ability to engage professionally with all levels of hospital staff, patients, and families.
Must understand the scope of practice, particularly when communicating with parents, and recognize the limits of information they can provide.
Attention to detail is crucial.Must be organized with effective time management skills.
Must be a team player, assisting with other newborn hearing screenings as needed, and collaborating with all providers caring for newborns/infants in the well-baby nursery or NICU, as well as their parents during their hospital stay.
Experience:A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting or working with infants.
Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged standing and walking; must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
May involve exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Adheres to universal hand hygiene protocols.
Follows all infection control measures in accordance with current policies.
