Key Responsibilities

What is the Criminal Investigation Division?

Vacancies are available across various specialty areas within the Criminal Investigation sector.

The primary responsibilities at the full working level include:
  • In-depth understanding of Federal laws, regulations, and statutes pertinent to the enforcement mission of the Internal Revenue Service, enabling the identification of trends and areas of criminal noncompliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Criminal Investigation organization, its mission, and operational procedures.
  • Comprehensive grasp of judicial boundaries and jurisdictional matters.
  • Familiarity with management techniques, principles, and employee relations concepts.
  • Thorough knowledge of user operations in accessing automated data processing systems.

Employment Conditions

  • Undergo a review of prior performance and conduct, including income tax verification.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment.

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the pay band or GS grade.

  • Demonstrated management or leadership experience.
  • Experience in applying regulations and principles for the planning, development, and execution of technical programs.
  • Ability to utilize effective communication techniques to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
