Job Title: Senior Technical Claims Specialist-General Liability/Bodily Injury

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Claims Specialist-General Liability/Bodily Injury to join our team. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for adjudicating complex general liability bodily injury claims for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adjudicate highly complex claims, at the highest authority limits, with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to find solutions to issues that are numerous and undefined.
  • Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
  • Manage claims in litigation, including diary timely and complete tasks to ensure cases move to the best financial outcome and timely resolution.
  • Properly set claim reserves, taking into account how different policy wordings impact the claims reserving process.
  • Identify, assign, and coordinate the assignment and coordination of expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
  • Prepare reports for file documentation.
  • Negotiate highly complex settlement packages, set reserves, and authorize payment within scope of authority.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. J.D. preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of claims adjudication, typically achieved through a minimum of seven years' experience adjudicating general liability claims with exposure of $100,000 or more.
  • Good business acumen, including understanding how an insurance company works and makes money.
  • Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Natural curiosity and ability to consistently explore and consider all options.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent evaluation and strategic skills.
  • Strong claim negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of claims reserving techniques and ability to assess whether a claim reserve is appropriate.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking and regularly shares ideas to help the team.
  • Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients' business.
  • Has the courage to do the right thing and demonstrates it on a daily basis.
  • Intellectual curiosity.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
  • Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write English fluently.
  • Must demonstrate a desire for continued professional development through continuing education and self-development opportunities.
  • Licensed Claims Examiner (based on state) or ability to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first-party claims within 120 days.
