Job SummaryThe Senior Casualty/General Liability Property Damage Adjuster will effectively determine and communicate the extent of liability or damage associated with each claim. You will assist the client in fulfilling its obligation to policyholders and maintaining the client's claims processing functions.
Key Responsibilities- Determine the appropriate methods and extent of needed investigation for all assigned claims, including conducting investigations through field visits and phone contact.
- Use knowledge of property and construction, and/or knowledge of the specific industry or business affected, to conduct property inspections and photograph claim sites as necessary.
- Investigate insurance claims in a variety of settings, including retail establishments, office buildings, residences, and more.
- Conduct thorough interviews or other methods to obtain necessary information from the claimant and experts.
- Apply a thorough understanding of insurance policies and policy interpretation to properly conduct an investigation, establish appropriate loss estimates, and provide coverage recommendations.
- Work cooperatively with expert witnesses, attorneys, underwriting department staff, investigators, vendors, and carrier's examiners as needed.
- Ensure the accuracy of information collected and reported, and guard against fraudulent claims.
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and practices, and incorporate sound judgement in formulating recommendations and completing evaluations and reports.
- Effectively use software systems such as Xactimate as necessary to produce accurate estimates.
- Prepare accurate, clear, thorough, and concise reports and letters to insurance carriers, providing appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in related claims handling preferred.
- Active license or ability to obtain such in multiple jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in a variety of office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills in using word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Fundamental understanding of claims adjudication processes and knowledge of commercial and residential construction industries.
- Basic knowledge of casualty claims law and jurisdictional issues.
- Fundamental understanding of how to perform codes investigations.
- Fundamental knowledge of estimate building through Xactimate.
- Understanding of the Commercial General Liability Policy Form.
- Sound negotiating, conflict resolution, and persuasion abilities.
- Ability to draft coverage letters with some supervision.
- Skills in analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing, prioritizing, and reporting pertinent information.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Effective time management and organization skills.
- Basic mathematical and statistical skills.
- Ability to interpret policies and other written technical information.
- Trustworthiness, integrity, and personal accountability and adherence to standards of ethical behavior and professional conduct.

Work is generally performed in a typical office environment or at loss sites, with limited exposure to harsh weather conditions, loud internal or external noise, fumes, or significant temperature changes. Occasional overnight and extended travel in a work and/or training capacity may be required.
