Job Overview

Position: Senior Grants Accountant

The Senior Grants Accountant plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial management of Fenway's Grants Portfolio. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting Operations, this position involves leading a dedicated team of Grants Accountants and managing the Oracle Grants Module, while fostering collaborative relationships with Grants Managers and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

Grants Portfolio Management

  • Take full responsibility for the financial oversight of Fenway's grants portfolio, encompassing Federal, State, and Private grants.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of invoices and reports, including the calculation of program income.
  • Engage with funder representatives to address and resolve any financial discrepancies.
  • Monitor receivables to guarantee prompt collection and review aged accounts receivable.

Financial Accounting and Oversight

  • Collaborate with finance, compliance, and accounting teams to produce accurate journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, Uniform Administrative Guidance Title 2 CFR 200, and specific funder regulations.
  • Work closely with Grants Managers and Program Managers to ensure alignment of contract activities with grant accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze financial outcomes of grants and contracts to ensure compliance and effective spend-down.
  • Conduct indirect cost analysis and propose updated rates for all grants.
  • Lead grant financial audits and site visits, ensuring thorough preparation.
  • Serve as the primary administrator of the Oracle Grants Module for managing grants portfolio accounting.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise a team of two Grants Accountants, providing mentorship and performance management.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Establish staffing plans that optimize team effectiveness.
  • Ensure comprehensive orientation and training for new staff members.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations in accordance with agency guidelines.

Agency Participation

  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and client information.
  • Follow established safety protocols and identify potential hazards.
  • Attend required meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Stay current with professional competencies necessary for job performance.
  • Contribute to agency committees and professional organizations as requested.

Additional Duties

Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in grants accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal grant financial requirements and systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Fusion ERP and/or EPM.
  • Understanding of project management principles and tools.
  • Experience in not-for-profit and healthcare sectors.
